Children in orphan homes are especially vulnerable to dehydration and heat-related illness, so the Foundation installed stainless-steel water coolers and advanced RO purification systems in five orphan homes, supporting reliable access to clean and chilled drinking water for approximately 350-400 children.
Beyond meeting an immediate seasonal need, the initiative supports healthier living by reducing the risk of dehydration, heat stress, and waterborne diseases. It also encourages better hygiene practices and strengthens long-term community support through sustainable infrastructure, helping create a healthier, more dignified, and secure environment where children can thrive.
Our health camps offer a lifeline to disadvantaged children by giving them access to basic healthcare, often for the first time. Through health screenings, hearing and vision tests, and dental checkups, these camps help identify concerns early and support children in staying healthy, active, and ready to learn.
For many children, the camps are their first meaningful interaction with medical professionals. By making early health intervention more accessible, the Foundation helps families and communities respond to health needs before they become larger barriers to growth and education.
Access to clean and safe bathroom facilities is a basic necessity that many children in Telangana lack. More than 60% of school-age children in the region are forced to relieve themselves in public, exposing them to health risks and compromising their dignity, especially for young girls.
Through Project Dignity, we are working to address this urgent issue by building safe, clean bathrooms in schools. At Dammaiguda Government School near Hyderabad, Telangana, new restroom and toilet facilities now support privacy, cleanliness, and safety while promoting hygiene and dignity.
Menstrual health and hygiene are critical issues affecting young girls and women across India. Through Project Dignity, the Foundation addresses these concerns by educating girls on menstrual health, providing sanitary products, and advocating for better hygiene practices.
Through workshops, hygiene fairs, and access to sanitary pads, girls are supported with practical knowledge and resources. This helps them manage menstruation confidently and safely, both at home and at school.
The Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) in the Paderu district of Andhra Pradesh partnered with The JJ Metta Foundation to help tribal women manufacture and distribute clean, affordable menstrual pads. Through the Period Dignity project, the Foundation partnered with Jayaashree Industries to provide equipment and raw materials, while ITDA Paderu helped identify a tribal women's Self-Help Group responsible for production and distribution.
Chetana Collective Foundation coordinates Self-Help Group training, and JJMMF teamed with Andhra University's School of Social Work to provide on-site support. The goal was to produce menstrual pads within six months and turn the project over to the tribal women, supporting sustainable livelihoods while addressing menstrual hygiene needs in tribal communities of Andhra Pradesh.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, ANEW responded rapidly to support vulnerable communities in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The response included distributing sanitizers, masks, and hygiene kits to tribal people in the Araku region of Andhra Pradesh.
The emergency support also included meals, transportation, and portable oxygen generators for individuals and communities in need. These efforts helped tribal and rural populations access critical health resources during the crisis.
Hygiene Awareness focuses on teaching children clean habits, personal hygiene, and simple wellness practices that support daily life. These lessons help children understand how regular hygiene routines can protect their health and improve their confidence.
By encouraging clean living and practical self-care, the program supports healthier behavior at home, in school, and within the wider community. The goal is to make hygiene education a steady part of everyday growth and well-being.
Sports & Physical Activity encourages safe play, movement, and regular physical activity to support overall well-being. It helps children build strength, confidence, and healthier habits through active participation.
By creating space for movement and play, the program supports physical well-being alongside emotional and social growth. These activities help children stay active, engaged, and better prepared to thrive in daily life.
