For nearly 20 years, ANEW has supported the Sphoorti Children's Home near Hyderabad, Telangana. We maintain a library where more than 200 children can access texts, workbooks, fiction, nonfiction books, and other written materials. This space enables students to explore topics beyond their school curriculum, encourages them to pursue personal interests, and deepens their learning. Our computer lab ensures that students have access to up-to-date research tools, digital literacy resources, and online educational content—preparing them for the modern world.
We proudly support the Dharavi Art Room, a transformative program that provides children in Mumbai's Dharavi community with access to space, materials, and guidance to explore and enhance their community through creative expression.
In 2023, ANEW funded the construction of a new playground at Sphoorti Foundation, Hyderabad, to encourage and provide opportunities for creativity, physical activity, and social interactions between school children.
To encourage safe transportation of schoolchildren from the Sphoorti campus to the Zilla Parishad Government School (about 4 km or 2.5 miles) in Hyderabad, ANEW funded a new school bus in 2022. The route is not safe given incidents such as snake bites and theft. Walking to school poses an even more serious threat for girl children. This new bus also provides safe transportation for field trips and related educational opportunities, ensuring children can learn beyond the classroom without risking their safety.
In 2012-2013, ANEW built separate toilets for boys and girls at Government High School, Dammaiguda, Telangana, along with a school kitchen. These improvements significantly enhanced hygiene, nutrition, and overall learning conditions for students. The school kitchen ensured that children received nutritious mid-day meals, addressing malnutrition and improving concentration and academic performance.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when schools shifted to online learning, ANEW donated 20 mobile phones and laptops to underprivileged students in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana. This ensured that children from disadvantaged backgrounds could continue their education remotely and not fall behind academically during lockdowns.
In 2019, ANEW collaborated with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop and distribute the "Muddmandaram" illustrative book in social welfare schools. This culturally relevant educational material helped make learning more engaging and accessible for tribal and marginalized children in Andhra Pradesh.
In 2024, ANEW adopted 25 girl children for education in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, sponsoring their school fees, uniforms, textbooks, and other educational needs. This initiative ensures that girls from disadvantaged backgrounds can complete their schooling without financial barriers. Additionally, ANEW donated school bags and water bottles to 200 students in government schools across Telangana, providing essential supplies that support their daily learning needs.
In 2025, ANEW provided educational scholarships to 50 students in Ranga Reddy district, Telangana to promote continued academic success and reduce dropout rates among underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child. These scholarships cover tuition fees, school supplies, and other educational expenses, ensuring that bright young minds can pursue their studies without interruption.
Together, we can empower more children through education and help them achieve their dreams.
